The war in Ukraine has forced more than a million people to move to Germany. Among them are groups of non-Ukrainian nationals, many of whom had to abandon their studies at the time of the invasion. In Germany, these highly motivated non-EU citizens have a hard time finding apprenticeships through traditional channels. To facilitate this pool of talent, greentech.training, in cooperation with Zentrum für Arbeit und Beruf in Bremen and RelyOn Nutec in Bremerhaven, will select and train socially conscious individuals between the ages of 16 and 26 for careers in the wind industry.
The first point of contact for applicants is the Zentrum für Arbeit und Beruf in Bremen. After a consultation, those interested in working in the renewable energy sector can upload a short application video to greentech.training. Documents such as school reports in German or English are also accepted but nor essential. We will then conduct a screening based on the video and documents. Selected individuals are soon introduced to our participating wind energy project partners seeking motivated young people for open apprenticeship positions in Germany’s northwestern regions. Those selected via the pre-screening and interview process then begin online professional fluency training at greentech.training. Here, each candidate upskills their technical German to the point where they can begin GWO training, either for onshore work or off, with our partner RelyOn Nutec.
The entire process is designed to prepare pre-skilled candidates ready to commence an internship for either the onshore or offshore markets. The time between the first counselling interview to the start of the internship can take between 1 and 6 months, depending on the candidate’s initial German language skills. greentech.training handles the entire process from the screening, upskilling and administration. We also provide letters of reference and support for matters related to visa and residency status. Candidates who complete the program do so with CEF B1.2 German. For companies, the Propulsion Program offers both a powerful CSR opportunity as well as a clear and trusted pathway towards acquiring a new generation of trainees pre-skilled in GWO requirements while applicants are helped towards securing a long status as a green technician within Germany’s energy transition.
Please consult our Propulsion Program page for more details.
