Answers to some frequently asked questions. Please contact us if your question is not addressed.
We are continually refining our service portfolio to ensure exceptional customer service from initial contact to placement and beyond. Here are some questions regarding our service including our Bridging Program answered.
We offer bespoke training based on company’s requirements and the green technician’s existing skill set. For technicians this may include professional fluency and communication training in German as part of our Bridging Program, intercultural communication training and, going forward, cross-sectional awareness training to develop sustainable management skills in the form of Insight Seminars. Working with local training providers, we can develop upskilling programs for partner companies who need their staff to meet specific safety requirements prior to starting. This can include EuP, Efft, GWO and further industry-specific safety and training qualifications.
The Bridging Program is German professional fluency training offered in intensive Learning Blocks of 75 x 45 minute teaching units. Each Learning Block takes the candidate to the next CEF sublevel (for example A1.0 to A1.1, then A1.1 to A1.2). Six Learning Blocks are required to advance from no understanding to professional fluency (B1.2) or a total of 450 teaching units.
Technicians with mechanical, electrical or automisation backgrounds interested in working in green energy fields such as offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydrogen and geothermal. It can also include energy managers and specialists working at the nexus of food, energy and water.
Bridging Program: Applicants with less than a B1.2 level of German may opt for professional proficiency language training as a paid upskilling service with greentech.training as part of pre-interview preparation. This service is only offered to invited green technicians who can later be placed with our partner firms.
Post-partner-interview: Partner companies may cover qualification expenses via pay-it-forward models where the candidate is (in most cases) required to reimburse training or recognition costs as part of their salary. If applicable and possible, Bildungsgutschein may also be used for training purposes with third parties what are certified to accept them from the German Employment Agency.
Germany is currently restructuring its immigration laws for skilled labour. The details of the points-based program are yet to be confirmed but suggest that German and English language skills will be assessed in the rating, as will years of experience, qualifications and other non-skill factors. Please contact us should you have any queries in this regard.
Professional fluency and communication training takes place online. Where partner companies require upskilling or safety training to start employment (GWO, Efft and EuP), training may take place onsite with a local certified training partner. Partner company's may also conduct training on their own premises or online via greentech.training's learning platform.
Educational requirements depend on the job vacancy advertised. As a rule, B1.2 German and B2 English is a minimum language requirement for all qualifications. Exceptions can be made if an English-speaking candidate is highly experienced and the partner company has specified German is not a language requirement (as is sometimes the case for IT). Language requirements are always clearly shown on the individual job ads.
We serve all companies with projects or services that seek to support the purpose and aim of § 1(1) German Renewable Energy Sources Act 2014. This includes heat pump installers, solar distribution and installation companies, offshore and onshore wind companies, and many more. Our core focus is serving companies in the clusters of which we are a part, including the European Solar PV Industry Alliance and Berlin's Solarcity Masterplan for solar energy and WAB e.V. for wind.
Once a green technician has reached a level of CEF B1.2 professional fluency and passed our examination, we can add them to our pool to be presented to German firms looking for qualified, experienced technicians. At this point we may request the technician answer questions set by companies via video as a form of pre-screening. If the technician can demonstrate proficiency in the skills required by the company, they may be asked for an online interview.
No. greentech.training offers all its services to ensure any green technician we support has the best chance at succeeding in an interview by upskilling them in the areas demanded by companies, starting with German fluency. But because the ultimate decision lies in the hands of the partner company, we can only act as a bridge between the international green technician and the partner company similar to how a recruitment firms operates.
